Vanguard Masonry is a bricklaying contractor in Manchester and across Greater Manchester, working for main contractors, housebuilders and groundworkers. Multi-storey brickwork in a tight city
Most of our Manchester work is multi-storey residential: brick-faced apartment blocks on constrained city sites where laydown space is scarce, deliveries are booked to the hour and the brickwork has to keep pace with the frame. We plan materials call-off, scaffold loading and gang sizes around the lifts available. We agree interfaces with the frame, window and cladding contractors early, so wall ties, brick support and cavity barriers are right before the next trade arrives.
Manchester’s character is red brick, from the mills and warehouses of Ancoats to the Victorian terraces of its suburbs, and planners often expect new buildings to respect it. We build sample panels to the approved specification, blend bricks from several packs to avoid banding, and keep coursing and mortar colour consistent from the first lift to the parapet.
Housing across Greater Manchester
Beyond the city centre, Greater Manchester has a large and steady housing pipeline, both private and affordable, on brownfield and edge-of-town sites. For housebuilders we deliver superstructure brickwork, blockwork and cavity construction in line with NHBC Standards. Each package has a named supervisor who keeps daily site logs and records quality checks plot by plot.
Substructure and superstructure
Groundworkers can appoint us for substructure brickwork and blockwork up to DPC as a standalone package, with gangs working to the groundworks sequence on variable brownfield ground. Housebuilders and main contractors can appoint us for the superstructure, or for both. With 100 bricklayers across the North West and Midlands, we can increase labour on a Manchester site when plots or floors are released.
How we run a Manchester package
On a city-centre block, the main contractor needs to know who is in charge of the brickwork and what is happening each day. Every Vanguard package has a named supervisor who is the single point of contact for your site team. They attend progress meetings, keep daily site logs and record quality checks lift by lift and elevation by elevation, so you can see what has been built and signed off. RAMS, inductions and toolbox talks are in place before our gangs start, and our labour is planned against your frame and scaffold programme rather than added once the job falls behind.
