Substructure brickwork for groundworkers
A lot of Staffordshire housing work starts below DPC. Groundworkers need a substructure gang that turns up when the footings are ready, keeps pace with the oversite programme and leaves clean, level work for the slab. We provide dedicated substructure gangs for:
- Foundation brickwork and blockwork up to DPC
- Trench blocks and cavity work below ground
- Manholes and inspection chambers where specified
- Retaining and boundary walls in brick or block
We run substructure as its own package, separate from the superstructure, so groundworkers can bring us in for their scope only. That works well on schemes where the groundworker holds the substructure and the housebuilder appoints a separate superstructure contractor.
Superstructure packages for housebuilders and main contractors
Above DPC we deliver full superstructure brickwork for new-build housing, both private and affordable, and for commercial buildings. That includes facing brickwork, blockwork inner leaves, cavity closers and insulation as specified, and coordination with scaffold, joinery and roofing trades. Each package has its own supervisor, who keeps a daily site log and records quality checks so your site team can see progress and sign-off status at a glance.
The mix of work across Staffordshire is broad. There are new housing phases on the edges of Stafford, Stone and Cannock, plus care homes, schools and SEND facilities, and commercial units along the M6 and A50 corridors. We work in line with NHBC Standards on residential schemes and to the project specification on everything else.

Main contractors need supply-chain partners that pass pre-qualification without being chased. Vanguard Masonry holds Constructionline Gold and CHAS Advanced accreditation, and our operatives hold valid CSCS cards.
