Care homes and retirement living
Care homes and retirement apartments combine residential-style facing brickwork with the scale, programme and compliance requirements of a commercial build. Long elevations need consistent coursing and colour, and feature details are often used to break up the massing. Openings, brick support and cavity barriers have to be coordinated with the frame, windows and fire strategy. We review these details at tender stage, build sample panels to the approved specification, and record quality checks elevation by elevation.
Schools, SEND and education
Education projects often mean working on or next to a live school, with strict rules on access, deliveries, working hours and site segregation. Our supervisors work to the main contractor’s site rules and logistics plan, and our operatives are inducted before they start. RAMS and toolbox talks are in place, and the brickwork is sequenced around term dates and other trades as the programme requires. Halcyon Way School in Oldham is one of our completed education projects.
Apartments and multi-storey residential
Multi-storey residential blocks are a large part of our completed work, especially in Manchester and Warrington. Brickwork has to keep pace with the frame on constrained city plots where laydown space is scarce and deliveries are booked in advance. We plan materials call-off, scaffold loading and gang sizes around the frame programme, and agree wall-tie, brick-support, movement-joint and cavity-barrier details with the designer and main contractor before work starts.
Retail, offices, hotels and infrastructure
On retail units, offices, hotels and industrial buildings, brickwork is often one package among many, with tight access windows and a fixed handover date. On infrastructure such as Lea Green station near St Helens, work also has to fit around permits and safety-critical operations. Our approach is the same throughout: a named supervisor, a clear plan for access and sequencing, and clear communication with the wider project team.

- Capacity: 100 bricklayers across the Midlands and North West, so we can add gangs when the programme needs them.
